Anne Tabert, LMT
I was born and raised in South Dakota where camping, hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities were a normal part of our everyday lives, even in the winter with all that snow and cold. I thought for sure someday I would either be a super undercover CIA agent or a National Park Ranger. Then, I received my first massage. My aunt Patti came to town, a Licensed Massage Therapist, and asked me what was then the most important question of my life, "would you like a massage?" Simple, I know but having never received massage before, I had no idea of the therapeutic affects that it possessed, all I knew was that it felt amazing! The massage was grounding and comfortable, it made me feel like with all the craziness and business of life, this was a place I could come back to feel in my skin and whole again.
From there I went through college at Minnesota State University at Moorhead for sciences. I never felt like I had a goal in mind but Massage Therapy was always there, poking at me. I felt detached from nature and all that reminded me of my childhood and made the decision to leave the university and pursue Massage Therapy.
I finally moved to Oregon with my husband and son to attended East West College and graduated in early 2010 with special focus in Shiatsu, Hot Stone and Spa treatments, and Thai massage along with the basic training needed for licensing, totaling 800 hours of education. I also attended a continuing education class in Deep Tissue techniques in early 2011 and will be continuing my education with Advanced Myofascial Techniques classes taught by Til Luchau's, and instructor from Boulder's Rolf Institute.
My most recent work has been with Massage Envy where I've practiced nearly 1000 hours of massage on a plethora of clients, each presenting different ailments, establishing a solid clientele base. Being a part of such a large organization along with my continued involvement and interest in different modalities, demonstrates my commitment to this industry as well as my love for helping my clients accomplish their wellness goals.
I feel so blessed to be working with my friend and colleague, Dawn Killian-Davis with whom I attended East West College. We were fast friends at our orientation day and have stayed close throughout our schooling and massage careers. I have so much excitement for the future of Structural Healing Massage and Bodywork and would like to thank Brandi Nelson for her wonderful mentoring and showing me her love for massage, it has been truly inspiring!
