Dawn Killian-Davis, LMT

I was born in Phoenix, Arizona and lived there most of my early childhood. My family was outgoing and loved nature and being outdoors, and we camped and hiked often. I learned from that experience what kind of cactus to avoid, how fast rattlesnakes can really move, and the ultimate beauty of desert sunsets, one of my favorite things. In those early years I used to give my grandmother foot massages and she would tell me I would be an incredible massage therapist. Then my family relocated to the Colorado Rocky Mountains and I lived there for almost sixteen years before moving to Portland. But I’ve carried that memory of my grandmother with me for years, through my different careers - it seems that I’ve always had some natural ability with healing touch.

I think of myself as a relaxed and well balanced person, but after years of stress, physical labor and long working hours in the restaurant industry, I couldn’t ignore the pain that I felt. In 2007 I made a decision to put my health before my work and found an amazing acupuncturist, Lisa Ellis, who started treating me for chronic pain and old injuries. The massage treatment was so effective in healing me that I decided to listen to my heart and my grandmother's voice, and started on a path which ultimately led me to the healing art of massage.

I graduated from East West College in March of 2010 with over 800 hours of education including specific training in Deep Tissue Massage, Shiatsu, Spa Treatments, and Tui Na (Chinese massage). I’ve been in practice for almost two years now, with injury treatment and chronic pain syndromes as my main focus. During that time, I have been working with Brandi Nelson learning Advanced Myofascial Techniques, which I have found to be some of the most effective massage techniques for chronic pain and injury recovery. I plan to keep improving my skills and become certified in Advanced Myofascial work, continuing my education through bodywork practice, independent classes, and seminars.

My own personal experience and need for massage is what brought me into this career, but what I have found to be most rewarding is my clients’ responses to treatment. My professional knowledge and patience and the care that I bring to each individual massage are specifically tailored to the client-focused treatment that I give.

Specialties include Shiatsu, Advanced Myofascial Techniques, Spa Detoxification Treatments, Chinese Tui Na, Deep Tissue Massage and Hot Cupping.
